'Gasing Pangkah' is a highly skilled game where a long length of string is wound around a large wooden gasing and then flung onto a rubber mat, spinning the 'gasing'. The opponent then flings his gasing at the spinning one, with the aim of striking the first gasing off the playing surface. The winner is the competitor whose gasing spins for the longest time. The annual event is organized by the Johor Culture and Arts Department with the objective to promote the traditional game to the public especially to the younger generation.
