Malaysia is a country of multi-faceted culture with an ethnic mix of Malays, Chinese, Indians and others. This rich mix of cultures is evidently reflected in the various places of worship - the magnificent mosques, temples and churches existing side by side. It is also evident in the various foods and local delicacies, the colourful and enchanting costumes, festivals, ceremonies and rituals.

Most festivals are based on the various religion practiced although some are culturally derived. A common trait practiced by all during celebrations or festivals is the concept of "open house". People from all walks of life and religion are invited to join in the celebration at the host's home.
